April 2004 saw the ANC sweep back into power, with an enhanced majority and a larger number of votes cast for it than in 1999. Strategy & Tactics was officially appointed as research provider to the ANC for the elections, undertaking both qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and recommendation development. We salute the ANC on a famous victory!
S&T's association with the ANC goes back a long way. For the April 2004 election, we participated in the voter registration drive, using focus groups to understand the obstacles facing youth in particular. We ran a series of focus groups around message development and finalisation. We also undertook a large baseline survey for the ANC in Gauteng . We are proud to have contributed to the victory of the ANC both nationally and in Gauteng .
But April 2004 is also important for us at S&T. We are now over five years of age, an important milestone – business literature tells us that the majority of small companies close before they reach five; but if they get to that age, they have matured and – as with us – are here to stay.
Over the last five years, our client base has broadened to include government departments from all spheres, parastatals, NGOs, CBOs, donors, and large corporate concerns. We have worked all over the world, from Kenya, Uganda, Lesotho, Swaziland and other African countries through to training in Russia and participating in UN activities in Finland and Lebanon. We are one of the country's leading providers of monitoring and evaluation services, as well as applied social research.
April 2004 is indeed celebration time at S&T, and we extend a warm thank you! to all our clients and partners – including the ANC – and say, here's to the next five years!
